Though it wasn't anywhere near as headline-grabbing asGolden Globes, the Oscarstried its hardest -- and occasionally succeeded -- in capturing some ofRicky Gervais' naughtiness.
While"Pineapple Express"starJames Francosomnambulated through his duties next to an overly peppyAnne Hathaway,Colin Firth,Melissa Leo,Billy CrystalandRobert Downey Jr.gave the 83rd Annual Academy Awards a little much-needed shake.
Here are the top 12 moments of the night in order of appearance:
1.Morgran Freeman: In an opening montage that had James Franco and Anne Hathaway smartly shoe-horned into several key scenes from within the best picture nominees -- the premise involving a very Michel-Gondry-meets-Christopher-Nolan-style plot involvingAlec Baldwin's dreams --Morgan Freemanshowed up in an elevator alongside the two hosts.
"So the naked girl from 'Love and Other Drugs' and the guy from 'General Hospital' continued through Alec Baldwin's dreams as they prepared to host the show,"he said, before explaining that"Alec likes me to narrate his dreams, he says I have a soothing voice."
2. James Franco in costume: No, not the poor excuse forMarilyn Monroein drag. The opening monologue in which Franco wore a bear costume as he sat behind Anne Hathaway in a scene from"True Grit"and the very revealing skin-tight white leotard he wore for a"Black Swan"drop-in. Too bad it all went downhill from there for Franco.
3.Kirk Douglastortures best supporting actresses: The screen legend first grabbed the envelope and said,"Now, the most important part..."and as the women experienced a little intake of breath, he proceeded to stuff the envelope in his mouth and mock fought over his cane with a strapping young man. He then opened the envelope,"Now this is the moment,"he said, before talking about the audience laughing."You know,"he said again to laughter,"I'll never forget this moment."Then he put them out of their misery and said Melissa Leo's name.

4. Melissa Leo drops the F-bomb: In the middle of her speech, Leo referencedKate Winslet, who beat her out to win best actress in 2009."When I watched Kate two years ago it looked so f---ing easy,"she said, before being bleeped and throwing her hand to her mouth and the audience cheered.
5.Justin Timberlakeclaims he'sBanksy: After hitting the stage withMila Kunisto present the award for best animated features, Timberlake smiled, paused, and said,"I'm Banksy,"in reference to the anonymous graffiti artist behind the Oscar nominated documentary"Exit Through the Gift Shop.""That felt so good,"he quipped.
